How We Worked from Home
The Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed in Malaysia due to COVID-19 created an unprecedented situation in which a third of Malaysians in the private sector were required to work from home (WFH). This situation presented a unique opportunity to assess perceptions towards WFH, as well as the trade-offs of between WFH conditions to life and environmental outcomes.
Two surveys were conducted from 5 - 25 May 2020, across employers and employees, to discover the impact of WFH on employees and whether WFH has a net positive outcome for improving quality of life and inclusivity of work.
The surveys were complemented with a scan of media and social media on the perceptions and experiences of WFH in Malaysia to identify the key themes and illustrate survey findings.
