About the event
The forum consists of an opening segment, two panel discussions and closing session, all designed to engage a broad audience of stakeholders around this year’s theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress in Malaysia”.
The first panel discussion addresses the imperative of investing in women and girls from a human rights angle, in light of the upcoming periodic report on CEDAW, and building on the recent review of Malaysia’s human rights records by the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group. The discussion will examine the intersection of gender equality and human rights, emphasizing the fundamental rights and freedoms of women. Participants will explore how promoting women's rights and addressing systemic inequalities can lead to greater empowerment and social justice.
The second panel discussion focuses on women’s economic empowerment in Malaysia. The session will highlight successful initiatives and innovative approaches that have facilitated women's advancement in fields such as entrepreneurship, STEM, finance, and leadership roles. The session will also discuss strategies for overcoming remaining barriers to women's economic inclusion.
