UNESCO Snapshots (2024-2025) for Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Timor-Leste and Liaison Office to ASEAN
UNESCO Regional Office in Jakarta is pleased to present its first Biennium Snapshots (2024–2025), offering a look at how the Office and its partners worked across Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste during the first two years of the Regional Support Strategy 2024–2027.
Rather than organising the publication by UNESCO’s individual sectors, the Biennium Snapshots brings together activities under the Support Strategy’s three interconnected pillars:
- Adaptation to Climate Change
- Culture, Peace and Sustainable Development
- Science, Technology and Innovation
This structure reflects how UNESCO works in practice. The region’s most pressing challenges—from climate-related disasters and rapid technological change to threats to cultural heritage, media freedom and social inclusion—cannot be addressed through a single field of expertise. By connecting education, the sciences, culture, communication and information, UNESCO applies an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to support Member States and turn shared priorities into practical action.
The publication also reflects UNESCO Jakarta's new role as Liaison Office to ASEAN — supporting cooperation across all eleven Member States and contributing to regional frameworks on platform governance and education.
