Youth Power in Malaysia: Stories of Activism, Change & Courage | KePodChi EP. 1

“KePodchi” is UNICEF Malaysia's podcast-style session with a light and casual tone. Based on the local Hokkien term Kepochi—colloquially referring to someone who is curious and involved in the issues around them, we’ve reimagined it as KePodchi (pod for podcast, with children and young people taking the lead), reflecting the spirit of youth curiosity, engagement, and action. The first episode features a dialogue on youth-led initiatives and the role of young people in driving change. Elmus (22), a child rights advocate and former president of the National Child Council, hosts the podcast alongside four inspiring panelists: 

1. Ain (21) – Founder of Pocket of Pink, a feminist initiative that combines art, advocacy, and education to empower youth. 

2. Zi Kin (18) – YPAG member and the Founder of Silent Unity, an initiative focused on raising awareness about mental health within the Deaf community. 

3. Hui Yi (25) – Project Executive for Langur Project Penang (LPP) and a wildlife conservationist specializing in urban primate research, conservation, and environmental education. 

4. June Kunugi – UNICEF Regional Director for East Asia & the Pacific.
